ASTHMA.

Asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that impacts the lungs' airways, which are responsible for transporting air in and out of the lungs. Those who suffer from asthma can experience inflamed and narrow airways, which can make exhaling difficult. In the United States, around 25 million individuals have asthma, which equates to roughly 1 in 13 people. Out of the 25 million, approximately 20 million are adults aged 18 and above. Asthma rates are particularly high among Black adults in the United States.

The data is normalized on a scale from 0 to 10 to better highlight the range of disease rates across Pennsylvania. Incidence data comes from the American Lung Association's State of the Air 2022 report. Population data comes from the U.S. Census Bureau.
